FATE OF THE EARTH

Have you ever stopped to think that what you do, use, eat, throw away, read, and watch affects other people? It can be an overwhelming thought. But if you also realize that one small change makes a difference, you're on the way to improving our planet.

This fall, first-year students will pair with faculty and staff to explore the consumption of food, fuel, and media in contemporary culture in our first integrated term — Fate of the Earth 101.

At the age of 14, Chau "Tina" Nguyen's mother put her on a plane to the United States from Dalat City, Vietnam. Neither woman was sure when they would see each other again. Six years later, Chau not only finished her degree at Augsburg, but she was able to share graduation day with her mother thanks to the generosity of donors Jim and Kathy Haglund.
