ABOUT AUGSBURG - College Mission and Vision
The Augsburg Mission
To nurture future leaders in service to the world by providing high quality educational opportunities, which are based in the liberal arts and shaped by the faith and values of the Christian Church, by the context of a vital metropolitan setting, and by an intentionally diverse campus community.
The Augsburg Vision
The Augsburg Vocation: Access and Excellence
In 1999, the Augsburg Board of Regents approved Augsburg 2004: Extending the Vision, the product of 18 months of community thinking and discussion. This document outlined a vision for Augsburg College’s educational program as it entered the 21st century. It connects the College’s past with its future and represents the deepest considerations about Augsburg’s self-identity.
In October 2005, Augsburg 2004 was revised and updated in a new document, The Augsburg Vocation: Access and Excellence. It, too, is the product of extensive community conversations, and refines and articulates the notion of Augsburg vocation as an institutional vocation.
President William V. Frame wrote at the time of publication, “This new version of the vision, like the first edition, has been drawn from the soul of the College by consultation in campus assemblies, constituency conversations, and personal discussions, many of them seeded by advisory essays and letters.
