CERTIFICATES AND CONCENTRATIONS - FAQ
What is a graduate certificate?
A graduate certificate is official recognition that you’ve received
applied, practical graduate-level training in a particular field of
interest. Graduate certificates are professionally recognized and therefore
can help you advance in your career. Augsburg’s Master of Business
Administration (MBA) graduate certificates emphasize core business
principles with relevant real-world applications.
Who is the program designed for?
The MBA graduate certificate program is designed for individuals with
a four-year degree who are interested in graduate-level training
without necessarily committing to an MBA program, or for students
with MBAs desiring additional professional development in a particular
concentration area.
How long will it take?
You can generally earn your certificate in as few as six months with
courses meeting one evening per week for seven weeks. Additionally,
there will be some Saturday workshops. Classes meet for four-hour
sessions. Cohorts are forming now.
What is a cohort?
A cohort is a small group of students that stay together through the
sequence of classes for the duration of the program. This provides
a continuous, collaborative learning process where students learn
from each other’s expertise and experience as they work in
teams on projects, case studies, presentations, and simulations.
The cohort environment fosters a cohesive learning community where
students not only learn from one another, but also mentor each other
and peer coach.
What will I gain?
You will gain the skills and knowledge to take your career to new levels.
You will leave with mastery of a particular body of knowledge, which
can lead to meeting the education requirements for certification
in particular professional fields. You will build relationships with
fellow students and faculty that will extend into an important and
valuable network. In addition, your graduate certificate credits
can be applied toward a master’s degree in business at a later
date.
Why should I choose Augsburg?
Augsburg College has an established history of offering quality, adult-focused
programs since 1982. Cohorts are small (averaging 10-12 students),
which means you’ll get the attention from your professors and
the interaction with classmates you deserve.
Additionally, Augsburg’s program is accelerated, designed to fit your busy schedule.
Another Augsburg advantage is that the campus is centrally located in the heart of the Twin Cities and offers all the amenities of the campus experience including a library, bookstore, fitness center, and cafeteria, all on a beautifully landscaped campus.
