ADMISSIONS - Program Prequisites
PA Program Prerequisites
The
following prerequisites must be completed prior to matriculation in the
PA Program.
They are:
- Bachelor's degree (from any major)
- Minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0
Course prerequisites:
- 1 full course of general psychology
- 1 full course of developmental psychology
- 1 full course of physiology* (human/vertebrate/organ)
- 1 full course of microbiology*
- 1 full course of biochemistry*
- 1 full course of general statistics
- 1 course of medical terminology
* Labs are recommended but not required.
Prerequisites must be completed by the end of fall semester (December 30) of the year you are applying. If you are completing your first undergraduate degree, you may complete prerequisite course work in the spring semester of the year you are applying. All prerequisite course work must be completed prior to the start date of the program.
- All prerequisites must be completed at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
- A “full course” means that if a course is offered as a part 1 and part 2 sequence course, you will likely need both sections to equal a complete, full course.
- Prerequisites must have been completed within ten years of the start date of the program the year you apply.

Strongly recommended but not required:
- Science G.P.A. of 3.0 (anatomy, genetics, immunology, other biology courses, organic chemistry)
- Clinical health care experience is strongly recommended, but not required. Direct patient contact is the best type of experience to hold in order to strengthen an application. Health care experience may be full time or part time, paid or volunteer.
- Demonstration of a commitment to, and involvement with, underserved communities is strongly recommended.
Note: Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required.
