Indigenous Bolivian and Native American Film Festival & Cultural Exchange
March 15-18, 2012
Parkway Theater, 4814 Chicago Ave., Minneapolis 55407
Where Condor Meets Eagle: Indigenous Bolivian and Native American Film Festival & Cultural Exchange is a collaborative project between the Augsburg Native American Film Series (ANAFS) and Phillips Indian Educators (PIE) dedicated to providing educational, multi-cultural, and cultural empowerment through indigenous film and cultural exchange.
This one-time project is motivated by global examples of indigenous movements for human rights, social justice, and more equitable and healthy models for living and interacting in the world. The film festival and corresponding cultural exchange are the venues through which media literacy, community building, and cross-cultural exchange will take place. The three-day film festival will be divided into topic nights that include language and culture, contemporary issues, and traditional stories. These areas reflect the historical areas indigenous film has addressed globally, and are areas important to Indigenous world-view and self-representation.
Volunteers are needed to assist in the following areas:
- Volunteer coordination
- Web design and maintenance
- Marketing and advertising
- Donations coordination
- Evaluation design
For more information, contact Elise Marubbio, associate professor of American Indian studies, at 612-330-1523 or e-mail marubbio@augsburg.edu.
