Alumni Relations - LEADERSHIP BOARD

Lew Beccone ’98 MAL has more than 38 years of IT experience. Currently he serves as the database administrator for Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy. In addition, he is the project specialist for Midwest Fly Fishing magazine.

Buffie Blesi ’90, ’97 MAL is the owner of KnowledgeSphere Inc. and the area developer of an AdviCoach Franchise, the premier business coaching and advisory service for small to mid-sized businesses.

Chris Hallin ’88 is a senior training consultant at Ameriprise Financial. In addition to his BA from Augsburg, he holds an MS in higher education counseling from West Chester University and a Master of Human Resource Development from Clemson University. After graduating from Augsburg, he moved east for several years, working as a youth director and in higher education, finally coming “back home” in 1999.

Calvin Hanson ’98 works for Barnes and Noble and is also a soloist for many weddings, funerals, church services, and music programs throughout Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.  While at Augsburg he was active in Campus Ministry, sang in the Augsburg Choir, and was a member of a gospel quartet. Additionally, in his senior year he was class president and president of the Augsburg Choir. He is also active in the Watonwan County Republican Party and was a delegate to the 2008 Minnesota state Republican convention. Calvin has served on the Alumni Board since 2004 and is currently its treasurer.

Daniel Hickle ’95 is a proud graduate from Augsburg College with a major in journalism and minor in economics. He is active in the Minneapolis community and enjoys serving as an Augsburg Alumni Board member. He has spent more than 14 years as a professional in real estate and insurance. Currently Dan owns and operates a local insurance agency with a focus on helping families in our community and the Twin Cities.  

Lee Anne (Hansen) Lack ’67 tributes Augsburg College for launching her into work she has loved in college teaching, volunteer management, corporate training, and financial advising.  She is grateful to reconnect with Augsburg through the Alumni Board, and to find on campus such a thriving, diverse community, still with students discovering their calls to service and broadening their understanding of “the neighbor” they will serve.

Joyce Miller, ’02 ’05 MAN is a registered nurse of 35 years. She is a 1973 graduate of Rochester State Junior College with an associate degree in nursing, a 2002 Augsburg graduate of the BSN completion program in Rochester, and a 2005 graduate of the Masters of Arts in nursing program. Joyce is currently pursuing her doctorate in nursing practice. She teaches full time in Augsburg’s BSN completion program in Rochester, and works for the Department of General Surgery, Clinical Research office at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. 

Julia Mensing ‘00, ‘07 MBA is the project manager and event coordinator with Event Lab, LLC, a design, décor, and destination management company in Minneapolis.

Nancy Nordlund ’91, ’07 MAL is enjoying her first year on the Alumni Board. The most important thing she has learned at Augsburg is to be who you are supposed to be so you can do what makes you happy. Currently, Nancy is a client support manager at ADP where she uses the knowledge she gained in the MAL program daily.

Carolyn Spargo ’80 has been teaching music for 36 years and Swedish language for 10 years. When she is not teaching, she enjoys Swedish folk music on the fiddle, accordion, and with the voice. Carolyn is currently pursuing her MAL degree at Augsburg. In addition to serving on the Alumni Board, she sings in the Masterworks Chorale and is proud of having two new Auggie alumni, her son and daughter, emerge from her family.

John Stadler, MAL '07 lives in Savage, MN with his wife of 31 years.  John is an
active with Augsburg serving on the MAL advisory board and MAL alumni board.
John currently is on the Augsburg College alumni board. John is the owner of a Minnesota Computer Consulting company for the past eleven years in service to the greater metropolitan.

Jacqueline Teisberg ’80 worked as an occupational health nurse until she retired in 1997. Jacqueline continues to serve the community by volunteering with Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, Minneapolis campus; and Augsburg College.

Robert Wagner ’02 was appointed to the Alumni Board in 2008. He has been a financial advisor with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans since 2005. In his spare time he likes to play hockey and golf, and compete in triathlons.
