Call for Submissions: Augsburg Alumni Juried Show 2011
The Augsburg Art Galleries are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for alumni to show their artwork in a juried exhibition featured in both the Gage Family Art Gallery and Christensen Center Art Gallery. Each artist may submit up to three images. The submission deadline is June 24, 2011. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out July 12, with the exhibition opening in early August.

The 48th Annual Clair Strommen A-Club Golf Tournament
Monday, June 27
10:30 a.m., Oak Glen Golf Course, Stillwater
You are invited to the 48th Annual Clair Strommen A-Club Golf Tournament. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by shotgun start at 12 p.m. A social, dinner and raffle will follow. All proceeds from the tournament directly benefit the men's and women's athletic programs at Augsburg College.

A Journey to the Holy Land with Religion Professor Philip A. Quanbeck II
Travel with a community of Augsburg alumni and friends under the leadership of Religion professor Philip Quanbeck II. Discover the geography, places, and people of the Holy Land. Visit Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Caesarea, Capernaum, Sea of Galilee, Dead Sea, and much more. Woven into the itinerary are several opportunities to dialogue with local community leaders who give voice to the complex history and geopolitical issues of the region. Return home with a broader and deeper understanding of a land holy for the world's three monotheistic religions.

Brad Wise '07 Named Coon Rapids Police Chief
On May 12, the city manager of Coon Rapids (MN) announced that Brad Wise '07 has been appointed the new chief of police. In making the announcement, Matt Fulton stated that Brad is "a very effective and honest communicator and advocates for the success of others in accomplishing the very important work of public safety in the community."
A 2007 graduate of Weekend College, Brad majored in history and then earned a master's degree in police leadership at the University of St. Thomas in 2009. He has served with the Coon Rapids Police Department since July 1995 when he began as a patrol officer. Since then, his assignments have included detective/school liaison officer, general investigations detective, and patrol sergeant. In January 2009, he was assigned as sergeant to the community-oriented policing unit, and then promoted to captain of the detective division of that unit the same year.
In addition, his special assignments have included serving as staff liaison to the Coon Rapids Safety Commission, internal affairs investigator, program manager for the Police Citizen's Academy, predatory offender monitoring educator, Coon Rapids assistant emergency manager, and Coon Rapids Youth First council member.
Brad is active in community sports, serving as law enforcement coordinator for the Special Olympics, a Little League coach, and a board member of Coon Rapids Youth Hockey.
