KRISTIN ANDERSON is an art historian, the college archivist, and the recipient of Distinguished Contributions to Teaching and Learning: 2005 Teaching Award. She’s been teaching courses on the history of art at Augsburg College since 1984, including regular offerings of the art history survey as well as specialized courses like Medieval Art, Women and Art, and Scandinavian Art. Kristin has also taught interdisciplinary courses, including a Theatre-Music-Art course for Augsburg’s Honors program. She also teaches a popular course, The Designed Environment, about the architectural and urban history of the Twin Cities. The class meets at a different location for each session, bringing students face-to-face with the buildings they study.

Kristin is currently completing her doctoral studies at the University of Minnesota, focusing on American Art, Architecture, and Popular Culture. Her dissertation on the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis is a logical outgrowth of her continuing research on ballpark and stadium architecture. Other research interests include Scandinavian immigrant folk art and the altar paintings tradition of the Norwegian-Americans.
