REGULA RUSSELLE, is an award-winning book artist and printmaker who believes that good things happen in community. She begins teaching at Augsburg College this year. Regula launched Cedar Fence Press, an independent press and bindery specializing in publication of limited edition books and broadsides, in 1999. Recent creative practice includes print-artist-in residence at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA), founder member of the Laurel Poetry Collective, and co-director of Accordion Press Collaborations.
Winner of the 2007 Minnesota Book Award for Fine Press, Regula explores deep and persistent questions of social and spiritual connection and responsibility in her work. She received a 2007 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant. Recent exhibitions include Columbia College in Chicago, Cuesta College in California, the Foster Gallery at UW Eau Claire, and the Howard Conn Fine Arts Gallery in the Twin Cities.
Her work is held in national and international special collections including the Newberry Library in Chicago, The Peabody Essex Museum in Massachusetts, the British Library, the Zentralbibliothek in Switzerland, and the libraries of Stanford University and the Walker Art Center.
Regula also teaches letterpress at MCBA, and book arts for writers at Hamline University Graduate School in Liberal Studies.
