Auggie Intramurals

Relaxing, competitive (or not, depending on what you are looking for), healthy, fun . . . and don’t forget the great championship t-shirt. Intramural sports is all that and more. Don’t see a sport you like? Just ask. We’ll see what we can do!

  • ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOMED!! PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS NOT NECESSARY!!
  • ALL ACTIVITIES ARE CO-ED UNLESS NOTED!

The primary goal of the Augsburg Intramural Sports Program is to give Augsburg students, faculty, and staff and alumni the opportunity to enjoy a good recreational sport program. Such a program can provide stress relief from daily academic pressure, further the social and athletic components of an Augsburg student's education and enhance the professional lives of faculty and staff.

The program is designed to encourage floor participation; athletic activities give resident hall students the opportunity to interact in fun, relaxing, healthy and cooperative environment. Faculty and staff participation is also encouraged. The intramural program is a good opportunity for all members of the Augsburg community to interact in an extra-curricular environment.

INFORMED CONSENT

An Informed Consent Form is available for participants of various Intramural Activities. Signature of this form is completely voluntary. Captains CANNOT sign this form for their players!

LEAGUES AND TEAMS

Each sport has its own set of rules, which must conform to the general rules. In cases of conflict, the Director will make a ruling to which rules are to be followed,

To enter a league, a team must submit a roster with the names of all the players and its forfeit deposit to the Director by the publicized date. To be eligible to play, a player must be listed on the team roster. This rule will be strictly enforced in the post-season tournament in all leagues.

Each sport may adopt rules to limit the number of teams a person may play on in that league.

PROTESTS

A team may protest a rule interpretation or policy implementation. Judgement calls can not be protested. A team must do so immediately before play continues. Late protests will not be honored. The IM Supervisor on site will rule on the protest and the contest will continue. If the team captain still wants to protest, the IM Supervisor will fill out a Protest Form and the Director will settle the matter. If a formal protest is upheld, the game will be replayed from the point at which the improper decision was made, or in its entirety in order to correct the error, if necessary.

SPORTSMANSHIP

The Intramural program is designed to give everyone an opportunity for a fun, recreational experience in athletics, regardless of past athletic experience. Poor sportsmanship in any form is inconsistent with this aim and will not be tolerated. The following are displays of poor sporting conduct:

1.)The use of excessive profanity

2.)Derogatory, abusive or threatening remarks toward an official or an opponent

3.)Any illegal intentional physical contact or attempted physical contact with an opponent or official.

A field supervisor, official, or the director may eject a player from contest for unsporting conduct. The game will be forfeited if, after the official notifies the team captain, the ejected player refuses to leave the game area. In the event of an ejection, the official or game supervisor is to complete an Ejection Report Form and turn it in to the Director within 24 hours of the ejection. If an incident occurs short of an ejection, the referee is to complete the Referee Report Form and turn it in to the Director within 24 hours of the incident.

A player ejected from the game is suspended for the remainder of the season, although he/she may see the Director to request to be reinstated.  The Director may take further action on any rules violation, including permanently suspending a participant from the Augsburg Intramural Program.  Team names must be fit for prominent display on campus.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Weather-related contest cancellations are rare. Decisions concerning postponements will be made approximately one hour prior to the start of that day's game. When in doubt, call the Intramural Information Line (x1504). If a game has not been officially canceled by the Director and one team fails to show up for the contest, that team will be credited with a forfeit and will lose their deposit. Should Augsburg College close due to inclement weather, All intramural activities will be postponed or canceled. League game may be rescheduled, space and time permitting.
