Augsburg College is celebrating 75 years of intercollegiate athletic competition during the entire 1999-2000 school year.

Lute Olson (Augsburg '56) will return to Augsburg for the official "kickoff event" for the 75th anniversary celebration during the Hall of Fame banquet on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Christensen Center. Also, a springtime wrapup event will be held during the college's Days In May celebration. More details on the spring event will be posted soon.

Also, Augsburg alumni are invited to help the college celebrate the 75th anniversary of intercollegiate athletics with a series of special events throughout the year. Athletic alumni will be recognized during a special 75th anniversary program each of Augsburg's 17 varsity sports will hold at a home event. Following are the dates for each sports' individual alumni event:

Volleyball -- Saturday, Sept. 18, 1 p.m. (Alumni meet)
Men's and Women's Cross Country / Men's and Women's Track and Field -- Saturday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m. (during football game vs. St. Olaf)
Men's and Women's Soccer -- Sunday, Oct. 10, 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (doubleheader vs. St. Scholastica).
Football -- Saturday, Oct. 23, 1 p.m. (vs. St. Thomas)
Women's Hockey -- Saturday, Oct. 30, 12:15 p.m. (alumni game)
Women's Basketball -- Saturday, Nov. 6, 2 p.m. (alumni game)
Men's Basketball -- Saturday, Dec. 11, 3 p.m. (vs. Bethel)
Wrestling -- Sunday, Jan. 9, 2 p.m. (vs. Wartburg)
Men's and Women's Golf -- Monday, Jan. 17, 7:30 p.m. (during men's basketball game vs. Carleton)
Men's Hockey -- Friday, Feb.2, 7 p.m. (vs. Hamline)
Baseball -- Saturday, April 15, 1 p.m. (vs. St. Thomas)
Softball -- Sunday, April 16, 1 p.m. (alumni game)
