As a Tight End/Defensive End, he was captain and an All-WCMP team member twice, as well as All-Conference his senior year and Honorable Mention his junior season. In Basketball, Derek led his team in rebounds and assists his senior year as captain. He earned All-Conference Honorable Menton for his final year of hoops.
