MESA, Ariz. (3/20/07) -- The Augsburg College baseball team dropped a doubleheader on Tuesday at the Greater Phoenix Invitational, falling to Albright College (Pa.) 12-6 and 4-2 at Gene Autry Field. Augsburg is now 3-7 on the season, while Albright is 5-1.

In the first game, Albright used a four-run third inning and five-run sixth inning to pull away from the Auggies. Derek Goodnature (Sr., Albert Lea, Minn.) started on the mound for the Auggies, and was relieved by Tyler Kraft (Sr., Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) and Shawn Sanders (So., St. Charles, Minn.).

Augsburg scored four runs in the third inning, keyed by a three-run triple by Mark Pederson (Jr., Lexington, Minn./Centennial HS) and a run-scoring single by Jason Kickhafer (So., Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS). In the fourth inning, Ricky Schreier (Sr., Maplewood, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) tripled and scored on a single by Andy Nelson (Sr., Waseca, Minn.), and in the sixth inning, a fielder's choice by Schreier plated a run. Schreier went 2-for-4 in the game to lead the Auggies.

In the second game, Albright used a three-run second inning to take the lead for good off of Augsburg starter Kickhafer, who struck out three in five innings of work. Dave Rasmussen (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) pitched an inning of relief.

Augsburg scored twice in the sixth inning, as singles by Aaron Hazen (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) and Mike Zaun (Jr., Mendota Heights, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) drove in runs. Zaun went 2-for-3 to lead the Auggies in the second game.
