CHANDLER, Ariz. (3/21/08) -- Derek Williamson (SO, St. Francis, Minn.) hit a two-run triple to key a three-run, sixth-inning comeback in the second game for the Augsburg College baseball team, as the Auggies claimed a split with the State University of New York-Brockport in a Greater Phoenix Invitational doubleheader on Friday at Snedigar Field. Brockport State (4-7) won the first game 4-1, while Augsburg (6-8 overall) won the second game 3-1.

Al Davis (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Auggies in the second game. Reliever Shawn Sanders (JR, St. Charles, Minn.) picked up the win, striking out three in 2.2 innings of relief of starter Alex Gustafson (JR, Anoka, Minn.). Gustafson struck out two and allowed just two hits in four innings of work. Adam Jacobsen (FY, Wayzata, Minn./Orono HS) picked up his first collegiate save.

Tom McCormick went 2-for-3 for Brockport State, scoring the lone run of the game for the visitors on an RBI by Jake Privitera. Mike Meola also had two hits in the second game for the Golden Eagles.

In the first game, Augsburg was limited to just three hits by Brockport State pitcher Tim Mascari, who struck out five while walking one in a complete-game effort. Two of those hits came from Jeff Stomberg (SR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS), and the other came on a double by Craig Henry (SO, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS). Augsburg's lone run came in the top of the first, as Eric Olson (SO, New Prague, Minn.) plated Stomberg on a sacrifice fly.

Augsburg's Jason Kickhafer (JR, Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS) pitched a complete-game effort, striking out six while walking three and allowing seven hits. Just one of the four runs charged to him was earned, as the Auggies committed two errors in the game. Rob Maxwell hit a two-run double in the first inning to give the Golden Eagles the lead, and they added runs in the second and sixth innings.

Augsburg, which has split each of its four doubleheaders in Arizona so far, completes its spring break trip with a doubleheader against Roger Williams (R.I.) on Saturday (3/22) at 12 p.m. in Chandler.
