The Cardinals won the first game 10-7 and the second game 12-3. Morrison went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI in the first game, and went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and a run-scoring single in the second game. The Cardinals pounded out 12 hits in the first game and 14 hits in the second. St. Mary's improves to 13-5 overall and 3-1 in the MIAC with the victories, while Augsburg drops to 4-15 overall and 0-6 in the MIAC. It was the first home doubleheader of the season for Augsburg. In the first contest, St. Mary's jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Augsburg rallied with a four-run sixth inning, punctuated by a three-run homer by Rich Storholm (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park HS). But the Cardinals scored four runs in their half of the seventh, keyed by a solo homer by Morrison. Storholm had a three-run triple in the seventh for Augsburg, but it wasn't enough to catch the visitors. Tom Fernielus (So., Crystal, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) picked up the pitching win in the first game, striking out three. John Webb (Sr., Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS) took the loss for the Auggies, also striking out three in four-plus innings of work. The second game featured a solid pitching performance by Eric Williamson (Fr., St. Charles, Minn.), who survived a three-run first inning and shut down the Auggies over the next five innings, striking out six while allowing just six hits. Chuck Wright (Fr., Winona, Minn./Winona Cotter HS) pitched the seventh inning to pick up the save. St. Mary's knocked out Auggie starter Eric Mogenson (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) in the first inning, scoring four runs and collecting four hits. Jeff Deeb (Sr., Maplewood, Minn./Roseville HS), who made relief appearances in both games for the Auggies, pitched the next five innings before giving way to Dave Fransen (Fr., Farmington, Minn.). Rob Danneker (Sr., West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) had a 3-for-4 day in the second game for the Cardinals, driving in four runs. He had a three-run homer in the sixth inning of the second game and also added a double. Aaron Slominski (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored three runs and drove in another. Augsburg was paced in the second game by Mike Schwalen (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./Richfield HS), who went 3-for-4 with a triple and one run. Ben Wilson (Fr., Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson HS) went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Adam Erickson (Sr., Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) had a double. Augsburg hosts Wisconsin-Stevens Point in a nonconference doubleheader rescheduled from Friday to Monday (4/10) at 2:30 p.m. at Parade Stadium. St. Mary's hosts Concordia-Moorhead on Tuesday (4/11) at 1 p.m., in Winona, Minn.
