Brian Bambenek (Augsburg '07), a four-year outfielder in the Augsburg baseball program, enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Auggies in 2009.

A native of St. Charles, Minn., Bambenek started 100 of 115 career games with the Auggies, hitting .233 (60-of-258) in his career, with seven doubles, a triple and 36 RBI. He had a .404 on-base percentage and 11 stolen bases in his career. He hit .264 in his junior season and .261 his senior year. He had a .983 career fielding percentage (three errors in 177 chances), with seven outfield assists in his career. He was a starter on the 2005 Auggie ballclub that qualified for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason playoffs. Bambenek was an All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team selection in 2007.
