Jennifer Britz (South Dakota State '00) enters her fourth season as Augsburg's head coach in 2007-08. It's her fifth year on the Auggie staff; she was an assistant for one season before being named head coach in 2004. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Britz teaches in Augsburg‘s Health and Physical Education department.

A native of St. Peter, Minn., Britz was a four-year letterwinner, three-year starter and two-time honorable-mention All-North Central Conference selection during her playing days (1996-2000) at South Dakota State University, a Division II school in Brookings, S.D.

A point guard, she led the Jackrabbits in assists her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, and led the team in steals her senior campaign. She averaged 8.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game during her career. She is fifth in school history in career assists (483) and 13th in career three-pointers (55). Her Jackrabbits qualified for the NCAA Division II regionals in the 1998-99 season.

Academically, Britz earned Academic All-North Central Conference honors three times, and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2000. She also earned the SDSU Gold Medal academic award three times, was president of the school‘s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee her senior year and was a conference SAAC representative in 1998.

She earned her bachelor's degree in health and physical education from SDSU in 2001 and her master's degree in exercise training from St. Cloud State (Minn.) in 2003. After graduating from South Dakota State, she served as a student assistant coach at her alma mater in the 2000-01 season, before working for two seasons (2001-03) as a graduate assistant coach at St. Cloud State, another Division II North Central Conference school. In two seasons at St. Cloud State, Britz served as a scout, administrator and recruiter, in addition to her coaching duties. She had the same responsibilities in her one season as an assistant coach at Augsburg in 2003-04. She has also served as a counselor/coach at more than a dozen basketball camps throughout the Midwest.

She lives in Minneapolis, Minn., with her husband Ryan. In May 2007, the couple gave birth to their first child, a son, Cullen.
