Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Brett Bruininks
Brett Bruininks (Notre Dame '96) enters his first season on the Augsburg women's hockey coaching staff in 2008-09. Bruininks has served as a coach and instructor in numerous levels of hockey for the past decade. Most recently, he served as associate head coach for the Academy of Holy Angels girls' hockey team. The Stars won Missota Conference titles in 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08, and earned a trip to the state tournament in 2005-06. He has also served as an evaluator/coach for the Minnesota Girls' High School National Development Program and the Minnesota Girls' High School Junior Festival, and has served as a strength and conditioning consultant, as well as an athletic leadership program consultant, at Augsburg. A native of Edina, Minn., Bruininks played collegiately at Notre Dame, where he scored 37 goals and had 21 assists in 145 career games (1992-96). He later played professionally in the Carolina, Chicago and Philadelphia organizations (AHL-Philadelphia Phantoms, 1996-97 and 1997-98; ECHL-Johnstown Chiefs in 1997-98 and Florida Everblades in 1998-99; and IHL-Indianapolis Ice in 1997-98). Bruininks earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Notre Dame in 1996 and his master's degree in exercise science and human performance from the University of Minnesota in 2005. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in applied exercise physiology at Minnesota. He currently owns his own athletic performance enhancement company, Bruinx Performance Group, and lives in Wayzata, Minn. Women's Hockey Head Coach -- Jill
