Mike Burkhardt (Augsburg '81) is in his fourth season as an Auggie coach, working with the team’s goalies.

Burkhardt played two seasons at the University of Minnesota before transferring to Augsburg in the 1979-80 season. He was a part of two MIAC championship teams (1979-80 and 1980-81) with the Auggies. He earned team MVP, All-MIAC and NAIA All-American honors his senior season, as the Auggies captured the 1980-81 NAIA national championship. He compiled a 34-8 record in his two seasons at Augsburg. He also played baseball for the Auggies as a catcher, serving as team co-captain his senior year.

Burkhardt served as a head coach for the Minneapolis Marshall-University and Minneapolis North high school teams between 1982-85, and served as a volunteer assistant coach and goalie coach at Minnehaha Academy HS in the 2003-04 season. Burkhardt works as a program financial controller for UnitedHealth Group, and he and his wife Sheryl have three children -- Hilary, Ellen and Mark.
