A native of Janesville, Wis., Enke was a standout athlete in softball and also played volleyball, basketball and competed in track and field. She graduated from Janesville HS in 1978 and was inducted into the Janesville Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. She played four seasons as a softball scholarship athlete at the University of Minnesota (1979-82). She was a team captain and won the Patty Berg Development Fund Academic Award as a senior. She went on to earn a master's degree from the University of Minnesota in developmental/adapted physical education. At Augsburg, Enke teaches in the health and physical education department. She was honored in 2001 by the senior class with one of three Outstanding Faculty awards. Enke began her coaching career at Minneapolis Roosevelt HS in 1983 as a softball assistant coach. She moved up to head coach there the next two years, and also coached a summer recreational team in 1985.
