Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Greg Flickinger
Greg Flickinger (Ohio Univ. '93) joins the Augsburg coaching staff for his first season as an assistant coach in 2004, leading the tight ends and special teams. Flickinger spent four seasons on the coaching staff at Division II Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.), leading the special teams for the past three seasons, in addition to coaching defensive ends and defensive line. Special teams groups he coached consistently led the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in punt and kickoff returns. Nine position players he coached earned All-NSIC honors, with five earning all-region honors. The Golden Bears went 25-9 in his last three seasons, including a trip to the Mineral Water Bowl as NSIC champions in 2003. Prior to coming to Minnesota, Flickinger served as an assistant coach at Champaign (Ill.) Central HS and South Piatt Co-Op HS (Ill.). As a player, Flickinger earned all-conference and honorable-mention all-state honors as a quarterback at Orville (Ohio) HS, and played four seasons of football at Ohio University, as a quarterback, linebacker and tight end. Flickinger earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Ohio in 1993, and later earned his master's degree and Ph.D in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois. He currently works for General Mills, as Operations Business Manager for the Big G Cereal Division. Flickinger and his wife Beth live in Chanhassen, Minn.
