Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Mike Goldman
Mike Goldman (Iowa State '87) was named head coach of Augsburg College's women's swimming and diving team in October 2005. Goldman has switched sports and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools with the move to Augsburg. For the past 13 years, Goldman served as head men's and assistant women's track and field coach at Bethel University, while also teaching in the school's physical education and health education departments. He has also served as Bethel's director of intramural sports and assistant recreation facility director. Goldman has two decades of swimming coaching experience. He coached youth and high school swim teams in the Des Moines, Iowa, area from 1978 to 1992, and most recently served as assistant swimming coach for the Marlin Swim Club (YMCA) in Shoreview, Minn. In track and field, Goldman had more than 40 athletes qualify for NCAA Division III national competition in his 13 years at Bethel. Prior to coming to Bethel, Goldman served as boys' track head coach at Carlisle, Iowa, High School from 1990-92, and as women's track and field/cross country assistant coach at the University of Minnesota from 1987-90. He also served as a student assistant women's track and field/cross country coach at his alma mater, Iowa State University, from 1984-87. Goldman received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Iowa State in 1987 and his master's degree in education (physical education emphasis) from the University of Minnesota in 1989, graduating cum laude.
