Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Bill Halbrehder
Bill Hahlbreder (Minnesota-Duluth '65) is in his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Augsburg women’s hockey team. A native of Duluth, Minn., Halbrehder played hockey on the junior level in Moose Jaw, Sask., for two years before playing collegiately at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. After earning his degree from Duluth, Halbrehder began coaching and teaching. For 21 years (1968-89), he coached boys' hockey at North St. Paul, Minn., HS, while also coaching boys' soccer for 12 years and girls' soccer for 13 years. For seven years (1992-99), Halbrehder was the athletic director at North St. Paul HS. Halbrehder earned his master's degree in physical education and sport physiology from Bemidji State University in 1980. He retired in 1999 from his teaching and athletic director position. Halbrehder’s wife, Barb, was an assistant coach at Augsburg for four seasons (2000-04). The Halbrehders have four children -- Teresa, Angela, Tracy and David -- and live in White Bear Lake, Minn.
