Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Nate Hitch
Nate Hitch (Gustavus '05) enters his second season as an Augsburg College men's soccer assistant coach in 2007. Hitch was a goalkeeper on Gustavus Adolphus College teams that qualified for the NCAA Division III national playoffs in 2003 and 2004, reaching the sectional final (national quarterfinals) in 2004. Hitch's Gusties won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season title in 2004, and won the conference playoffs in 2003 and 2004. In 21 games played (18 starts, 1,680 minutes) during his Gustie career, he allowed just seven goals, recorded a 17-2 record with 11 shutouts and a 0.37 goals-against-average with 51 saves. He was also a member of the Minnesota Thunder's Project 25 training program in 2004. Hitch holds a U.S. Soccer Federation "D" license and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Level II goalkeeper diploma. In 2005, Hitch served as an assistant coach for Woodbury (Minn.) HS, which was the state Class AA runner-up, conference and section champions (14-2-2 record). He currently serves as head coach for the Lakeville (Minn.) Soccer Club U-16 boys' and Edina (Minn.) Soccer Club U-16 Premier boys' teams, in addition to serving as an Olympic Development Program District Select goalkeeper trainer. He has also coached with the Woodbury Soccer Club in the past. Hitch earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and biology from Gustavus in 2005. He currently works as a finance professional with the Retirement Benefits Group for AXA Advisors.
