Bill Kriesel (Augsburg '96) returns to the Augsburg coaching staff for his second stint as a defensive back coach in 2004. He returned to the Auggie coaching staff in 2003 after a six-year absence; he previously served as defensive backs coach from 1996-98, part of Augsburg's MIAC championship staff in 1997.

One of the top defensive backs in school history, Kriesel claimed 15 interceptions in his career (1992-95), the second-most in school history. He earned All-MIAC honors three times in his career. His eight pickoffs in 1993 and three interceptions in a 1992 game against St. Thomas remain school single-season and single-game records. Kriesel earned Academic All-MIAC honors in 1995. From 1999-2001, Kriesel played professional football in Germany before returning to Minnesota.

He currently co-owns a painting company, Kriesel Brothers Painting. A native of Rosemount, Minn., Kriesel lives in Farmington, Minn., with his wife Nicci, a 1997 Augsburg alum who played two seasons of soccer (1996-97) for the Auggies, and their daughter Macy.
