Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Melissa Lee
INSIDE AUGSBURG SPOTLIGHT ON MELISSA LEE -- CLICK HERE Melissa Lee (Augsburg '04), one of the top infielders in the history of Augsburg College softball, wears many hats in her work at the college. She serves as an assistant coach for the college's softball and women's basketball teams. She also serves as an instructor in Augsburg's health and physical education department, as equipment supervisor for women's athletics and the HPE department, and as director of academic and support services for the athletic department. Lee played both softball and basketball during her career at Augsburg, as a guard for the Auggie basketball team for two seasons and as an infielder for four seasons for the softball team. Lee earned All-MIAC honors three times as an Auggie softball player, earning honorable-mention honors her sophomore and junior seasons, as well as first-team honors her senior season. Lee also earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region second-team honors in 2002. Considered one of the best defensive third basemen in school history, Lee started every game and played every inning of her collegiate career -- 141 games, 141 starts and 964 innings. Lee closed her career with a .296 batting average, and ranked ninth in school history in hits (121), doubles (21) and total bases (152), while ranking second all-time in hit-by-pitch (9). She had a .962 fielding percentage. Lee earned Augsburg Senior Honor Athlete honors in 2004, the highest honor the school awards to student-athletes. A health and physical education major with a 3.507 GPA, Lee earned Academic All-MIAC and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar Athlete honors.
