Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Jim Rustad Men's
Golf Assistant Coach Jim Rustad (Augsburg '95) currently serves as an assistant coach for the Augsburg College men's golf team. He served two seasons (2005-07) as co-head coach with Ted Vickerman. A native of Rochester, Minn., Rustad is currently a special education teacher at Osseo, Minn., Senior High School. Rustad served as director of the junior golf program at a local golf course in Stewartville, Minn., from 1999 to 2001. He also currently serves as assistant to the PGA golf professional for club fitting and repair at Golf Galaxy in Plymouth, Minn. He is active in Twin Cities golf, playing to a low single-digit USGA handicap. Rustad and his co-head coach, Ted Vickerman , also have experience with fundamental instruction from three golf teachers ranked in the top 30 by Golf Digest. Rustad was a two-season veteran (1992-94) of Augsburg's men's golf program. Rustad earned his bachelor's degree from Augsburg in 1995, majoring in health education and minoring in special education and child/adolescent psychology. He earned his master's degree in special education from Bethel University in 2004, and has taught in Rochester, Forest Lake and Osseo. He gained golf instruction experience under Mike Malaska, the director of golf at Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Superstition, Ariz., a top 50-rated instructor and writer for Golf Magazine.
