Sandy Suapaia is in his second season on the Auggie coaching staff in 2008.

Suapaia has served as a coach on both the high school and junior level for a decade. For the past two seasons, he has served as a head coach for the Northern Lights Junior volleyball program, and served as the B-squad coach at Lakeville North HS last season. He has also served as a coach for the Eden Prairie, Arctic Force (North Branch), Sting, Eagle and Bloomington junior/youth programs.

From 2001-04, he served as a ninth-grade, B-squad and JV coach at Bloomington Kennedy HS, and prior to that, served two years as head coach at Bloomington Lutheran HS (now Concordia Academy Bloomington). He has also coached men and women at the USVBA level for four years. A former high school and USA Volleyball official, he also served as director of volleyball officials for the Bloomington Athletic Association for nine years.

A native of North Hollywood, Calif., Suapaia has been active in volleyball, either playing or coaching, for four decades. He is also a touring musician. His daughter, Ashley, is in her first year as a defensive specialist/libero at the University of Minnesota.
