Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Milt Sunde
Milt Sunde (Minnesota '65), who earned acclaim and Pro Bowl honors as a member of the Minnesota Vikings football team for a decade, enters his first season as an Augsburg College women's basketball assistant coach in 2004-05. Sunde played for the Vikings from 1964 to 1974 as an offensive guard, earning a trip to the Pro Bowl as a starter in 1966. Sunde started in more than 100 games on the offensive line in his Vikings' career. In his decade as an NFL player, the Vikings won division titles six times and played in three Super Bowls. After retiring from the NFL in 1974, Sunde worked for two years in sporting goods sales before founding his own company, Body Power Training Equipment, a strength training equipment company, in 1977. He began coaching girls' basketball in 1990, and served for eight seasons (1996-2004) as head coach at Trinity HS in Bloomington, Minn., where he compiled a 141-70 record. His Trinity squad won conference titles six straight years (1997-2002), earned sub-section titles in 1998, 1999, and 2002 and reached the Minnesota state tournament in 1999. Sunde has been a volunteer for Fellowship of Christian Athletes for nearly 30 years, and has volunteered for Street Hoops, Wheels for the World and Habitat for Humanity.
