Augsburg College Athletics Staff -- Rick Tungseth
Rick Tungseth (Augsburg '80) has been a mainstay in the Augsburg soccer program for the past two decades. As a player at Augsburg, he was one of the starting goalkeepers on Augsburg's 1980 MIAC championship team. From 1983-88, he was a member of the Minnesota State Select team, and played on the 1986 U.S. Olympic Festival team. He also played for the Minnesota Thunder in 1990 season, and was a member of the First Division St. Louis Park Cardinals from 1983 to 1991. Since 1991, he has been involved as an assistant coach for the women's program, guiding the Auggie goalkeepers. He also served as goalkeeper coach for the Auggie men's soccer team for several seasons. In addition, he has served as a coach for Holy Angels and Forest Lake high schools, and for girls' and boys' club teams in St. Anthony, Minneapolis (United) and New Brighton (Blaze). His individual guidance has helped two Auggie goalkeepers earn team MVP honors, while earning Tungseth a reputation as one of the top goalkeeping coaches in Minnesota soccer.
