Joe Waalk (Concordia-St. Paul '97) is in his first season on the Augsburg coaching staff in 2008, serving as defensive backs coach.

Waalk played his collegiate football at Concordia-St. Paul, where he started every game of his career on the defensive line, earning all-conference honors three times. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Concordia-St. Paul in 1997.

He served as an assistant coach (tight ends) at Concordia-St. Paul in the 2001 and 2002 seasons, and was an assistant varsity coach and ninth-grade head coach at Minneapolis South HS in 2007. He also has coached baseball as assistant varsity and junior varsity head coach at Breck HS.

Waalk currently is an associate educator at South HS. He and his wife Rachel have two daughters, Kati and Megan, and live in Robbinsdale, Minn.
