Week 11- playoffs vs. Concordia Moorhead at the Fargo Dome November 22

Augsburg beats Concordia in rematch

Augsburg 34 Concordia 22

Augsburg football played the first playoff game in school history last weekend, defeating Concordia-Moorhead 34-22 at the Fargodome in Fargo, N.D., to move into the second round of the NCAA Division III national playoffs. Concordia jumped out to a quick lead in the game, but Augsburg responded, scoring 21 unanswered points to take a 14 point half-time lead. Martin Hlinka added two fieldgoals in the third period to increase Augsburg's lead to 27-7, but a safety and two Cobber touchdowns brought Augsburg's lead down to 27-22. Augsburg's big play combination of Derrin Lamker to Scott Hvistedahl came through in the end, connecting on a 56-yard touchdown, putting the game out of reach.

Lamker lead the Auggie offense in a stellar performance, racking up 545 yards of offense, including 398 yards passing. This set a new single game record for Augsburg. Hvistendahl also set a record with 237 yards receiving and one touchdown. Thane Drier led the Augsburg rushing attack, which has found new life in recent weeks, with 129 yards and one touchdown.

Augsburg's defense was led by Jake Kern, who had 12 tackles and an interception, and Andy Zigan who had 14 tackles. Next up for the Auggies is Simpson College (Iowa). Simpson is 11-0, and seeded 2nd in the West Region. Augsburg's record is now 10-1.
