BLAINE, Minn. (11/14/08) -- Jim Jensen (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS) scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner midway through the third period, as Augsburg College rallied for a 4-3 victory over host Bethel University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game on Friday night at the Schwan SuperRink.

Chris Johnson (JR, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) and Nick Guran (FY, McHenry, Ill.) had a goal and an assist apiece for Augsburg (1-3-0 overall, 1-0-0 MIAC), while Brad Peterson and Kent Bostrom had a goal and assist apiece for Bethel (3-1-1 overall, 0-1-0 MIAC).

Johnson opened the scoring with a power-play goal from Chris Slavik (FY, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) and Guran at the 5:00 mark of the first period, but Bethel took the lead with two goals in the second period -- a Peterson goal on a 5-on-3 power-play at the 4:44 mark, and a goal from John Kovacs at the 11:15 mark.

Augsburg then scored three consecutive goals to take the lead, with Jensen scoring from Ben Roberts (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) and Bryan Frischmann (SO, Rochester, Minn./Century HS) at the 16:42 mark of the second period, Guran scoring from Mario Mjelleli (SO, Faribault, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) and Trevor Doden (FY, Red Wing, Minn.) at the 1:51 mark of the third period, and Jensen scoring from Johnson and Kurt Hogard (SR, Thunder Bay, Ontario/St. Ignatius HS) at the 10:08 mark.

Bethel cut the lead with an extra-skater goal from Bostrom with 16 seconds left in the game.

Bethel outshot Augsburg by a 36-25 margin, but Andrew Kent (SR, Lakeville, Minn.) collected 33 saves for the victory in goal for the Auggies. Aaron Damjanovich had 21 saves in a losing effort.

The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (11/15) at 7 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
