Game Summary:
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/28/00) -- Andy Ness (Jr., North
St. Paul, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) scored on a tip-in with 4:37 remaining,
and Ryan McIntosh (Jr., Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Grandin
HS) picked up his second shutout of the season, lifting Augsburg
College to a 1-0 win over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
men's hockey leader Concordia-Moorhead Saturday afternoon at the
Moorhead Sports Center.
Augsburg improved to 6-9-4 overall and 4-3-3 in the MIAC, while
Concordia dropped to 13-4-2 overall and 9-2-1 in the MIAC, still
two points ahead of St. Thomas in the race for the league title.
Augsburg moved into fourth place in the conference standings.
McIntosh stopped all 36 shots he faced to pick up his second
shutout of the season and fifth of his career. The season total
ties him with Richard Bain (1978-79) and Jim Finch (1981-82)
for the most shutouts in a single season in school history.
Concordia outshot the Auggies by a 36-18 mark.
Ness' goal came on a tip-in after a steal by Brad Holzinger
(Fr., North Oaks, Minn./Hill-Murray HS). Roland Blumer
(Sr., Anchorage, Alaska/Robert Service HS) was also credited
with an assist.
Bryan Howard (Jr., Gold River, Calif.) made 17 saves
for the Cobbers.
Augsburg hosts Hamline in the first game of a two-game series
Friday night (2/4) at 7:05 p.m. at Augsburg Ice Arena. Concordia
plays at St. John's on Saturday (2/5) at 2 p.m. at the National
Sports Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
