MINNEAPOLIS (10/29/02) -- Kyle Sheldon (Sr., Moatsville, W.Va.) had a goal and two assists, figuring in the scoring on each of St. Olaf College's three goals, as the Oles dispatched Augsburg College 3-1 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer game Tuesday night at Augsburg's Edor Nelson Field.

After a scoreless first half, St. Olaf outshot Augsburg 17-10 in the second half and put three goals in the net to improve to 8-7-1 overall, 5-4-0 in the MIAC, breaking a three-game losing streak. Augsburg drops to 4-10-2 overall and 1-7-1 in MIAC play, dropping its fifth game in its last six tries and seventh in its last nine.

Ben Clymer (Sr., Hudson, Wis.) scored his team-high seventh goal of the season in the 55th minute, collecting a cross from Sheldon and sliding the ball past Augsburg goalkeeper Han Zeller (Jr., Winona, Minn.).

Sheldon scored an unassisted goal in the 71st minute off a steal, then assisted with another cross to Brian Lande (Jr., Muscatine, Iowa) for his first goal of the season.

Augsbur's lone goal came in the 88th minute, when Aaron Riedel (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) completed a nice three-way pass play from Mike Elcano (So., Sparks, Nev./Bishop Manogue HS) and Matt Lachner (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.).

St. Olaf outshot Augsburg by a 21-16 margin in the game. Zeller made nine saves for the Auggies, while Neil Hastie (Fr., Dingwall, Scotland) made seven saves for the Oles.

Augsburg wraps up its season on Saturday (11/2) at 2:30 p.m., playing at St. John's. St. Olaf ends its season next Tuesday (11/5), hosting St. Mary's at 2:30 p.m.
