Augsburg football to be aired on KCCO-AM 950 in 2002

MINNEAPOLIS (9/5/02) -- Twin Cities radio veterans Tom Witschen and Russ Bohaty will enter their fifth season of broadcasting all the action of Augsburg College football in 2002.

This year, Auggie sports finds a new home in the Twin Cities, on KCCO-AM 950. Action will begin a half-hour before kickoff with a pregame show. Augsburg is the only MIAC college in the Twin Cities to broadcast its entire football schedule over the airwaves.

Augsburg opens its season this Saturday with a home contest against Dakota State (S.D.) at Augsburg's Edor Nelson Field. Action begins at 1 p.m., with the pregame broadcast starting at 12:30 p.m.

Because of requirements set by KCCO's owner, Infinity Broadcasting/CBS, Augsburg is unable to broadcast radio games on the Internet, as has been done in the past.

However, four Augsburg games will be cybercast as part of the MIAC's football game package on the Minnesota Sports Update website, with Lou Michaels and Alan Armstrong on the call. Augsburg games to be cybercast will be: Gustavus on Sept. 28 (1 p.m.); St. John's on Oct. 19 (1 p.m.), St. Thomas on Oct. 26 (1 p.m.) and Hamline on Nov. 7 (5 p.m.). The website address is: www.minnesotasportsupdate.com.
