Augsburg women's soccer player Jackie Keller named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
A midfielder, Keller was selected to the second team. Keller is a psychology major with a 3.70 grade-point-average. It is her first selection to the Academic All-District team. Keller, a three-year starter, has claimed three assists in 13 games this season, after being sidelined for a five-game stretch midway through the season with an injury. In her career (44 games), she has one goal and six assists for eight points. Keller is also a member of Augsburg's women's hockey squad, and has earned Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in both sports. She was also named an American Women's College Hockey Association National Scholar-Athlete in the 2005-06 season. Under head coach Mike Navarre, Augsburg's women's soccer team qualified for the four-team MIAC postseason playoffs for the third season in a row in 2006. The Auggies are 10-6-2 overall, 7-3-1 in league play. Augsburg's 15 points in conference play this season were the most for an Auggie squad in the 21-season history of the program. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is part of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Top student-athletes from non-Division I programs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ontario and Manitoba are eligible for inclusion on the district team. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.20 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. College sports information directors in the district vote for the teams. First-team Academic All-District members advance to the Academic All-America ballot, voted on by a committee of CoSIDA members. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America women's soccer team will be announced on Nov. 21. Keller was one of nine MIAC student-athletes named to the Academic All-District women's soccer teams. Named to the first team were Gustavus senior defender Alison Rethwisch, Macalester senior forward Annie Borton and Gustavus senior forward Liz Peterson. Named with Keller to the second team were Gustavus senior midfielder Amy Larson, St. Thomas junior defender Laura Baumgartner, Concordia-Moorhead senior forward Morgan Bain and St. Thomas senior forward Sarah Balgord.
