Augsburg's Maggie DeGroot, Felicia Faison, Whitney Holman, Jackie Keller receive All-MIAC women's soccer honors 2007 MIAC WOMEN'S SOCCER AWARDS -- CLICK HERE
DeGroot earned first-team honors, while Faison, Holman and Keller earned honorable-mention all-conference selections. DeGroot was also named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. The All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team is a part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative. Members are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition. An All-MIAC honorable-mention selection her first two years, DeGroot earned first-team honors for the first time in her career this year. A goalkeeper, DeGroot finished with a 9-6-3 record, 0.84 goals-against-average, 108 saves and eight shutouts this season. Her .878 save percentage was tops among MIAC goalkeepers in overall statistics, while her goals-against-average was third-best. She tied Beth Petrik (1995-98) for the Augsburg career record for shutouts with 26 this season. DeGroot's 0.71 career goals-against-average is currently best in school history, while her 27 victories is third-best in school history. Faison earned All-MIAC honorable-mention honors for the second straight season. One of the top marking backs in the conference, Faison finished this season with three assists. Faison has started every game (55) of her collegiate career, and has one goal and five assists for seven points in her three seasons. Holman showed her versatility this season by moving from forward to defense midway through the campaign. She finished this year with one goal and one assist for three points, and has five goals and four assists for 14 points in her two-season career (36 games, 36 starts). It is the first All-MIAC honor in soccer for Keller, who earned All-MIAC honorable-mention honors as a defender in women's hockey last season. She moved from the midfield to the center defense position this season claimed one goal with three assists for five points. In her four seasons of soccer (61 games, 59 starts), she compiled two goals with nine assists for 13 points. In her four seasons at Augsburg, the Auggies finished 37-24-12 (.589 winning percentage) and qualified for the MIAC postseason playoffs all four seasons. A psychology and sociology major with a 3.73 GPA, Keller was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 first team for the second straight year this season. Keller earned Academic All-MIAC honors in both soccer and hockey in 2005 and 2006. Under ninth-year head coach Mike Navarre, the Augsburg's women's soccer team finished 9-7-3 overall, 7-3-1 in MIAC play, earning a spot in the four-team MIAC postseason playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.
