Augsburg's Alex Hildebrandt, Lucas Ingram, James See named to All-MIAC men's soccer team; Peter Loyd, D.J. Wendell named All-MIAC honorable mention 2008 ALL-MIAC MEN'S SOCCER TEAM -- CLICK HERE
For See, the honor marks his third straight entry on the All-MIAC first team, while it's Hildebrandt's second all-conference honor, after earning All-MIAC honorable-mention honors in 2006. Hildebrandt was also named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. Starting 21 games this season, See has one goal and two assists for four points as the leader of the team's midfield, with a reputation as one of the top midfielders in the league. In his career, See has started 64 of 71 Augsburg games, with two goals and six assists for 10 points, including one game-winning goal. A defender, Hildebrandt currently stands second on the Augsburg men's soccer team in scoring, with four goals and six assists for 14 points, including one game-winning goal and a penalty-kick goal. In his career at Augsburg (53 games, 51 starts), Hildebrandt has 10 goals and nine assists for 29 points, including three game-winning goals. Earlier this month, Hildebrandt earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 first-team honors, earning Academic All-District honors for the second straight year, after earning second-team honors last season. A defender, Hildebrandt is a finance major with a 3.86 grade-point average. Hildebrandt was also named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team, a part of the conference's sportsmanship initiative. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition. Ingram earned his first All-MIAC honor with this year's first-team recognition. As a defender, Ingram has a career-high five assists this season and eight in his three seasons (57 games, 39 starts). Ingram has started 21 of 22 games this year, his second as a starter. The Auggie defense has allowed just 11 goals this season (0.47 team goals-against-average) with 13 shutouts.
A forward, Wendell currently leads the Auggies in scoring, with 13 goals and two assists for 28 points, including five game-winning goals, in 22 games (11 starts). In his three seasons (2005-06, 08; 58 games, 28 starts), Wendell has 17 goals and three assists for 37 points, including eight game-winning goals. Under fifth-year head coach Greg Holker, Augsburg is 12-3-7 overall, 7-2-1 in MIAC play.
