Augsburg's Chris Johnson named MIAC Men's Hockey Player of the Week MIAC MEN'S HOCKEY PLAYERS OF THE WEEK -- CLICK HERE
Johnson scored four goals with one assist for five points in Augsburg's weekend sweep of Bethel. In Friday's 4-3 win at Bethel, Johnson had a power-play goal and an assist. In Saturday's 5-3 win in Minneapolis, Johnson netted his third career hat trick, scoring on a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal and a 4-on-4 goal. The sweep was the first for Augsburg over Bethel since the 2003-04 season. A team captain, Johnson now leads the team in scoring with six points (four goals, two assists). An All-MIAC honorable-mention selection the last two seasons, Johnson has 51 points (20 goals, 31 assists) in his 56-game Augsburg career. This weekend, the Auggies face St. Thomas in a MIAC series, with Friday's (11/21) game at 7 p.m. at the UST/STA Arena in Mendota Heights, Minn., and Saturday's (11/22) game at 7 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena. MINNEAPOLIS (11/19/08) -- Augsburg College men's hockey forward Chris Johnson (JR, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week, it was announced this week. It's the second time Johnson has been named MIAC Player of the Week in his Auggie career.
