COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (3/7-8/08) -- Whitney Holman (SO, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) earned an all-conference and honorable-mention all-conference honor in sprint events, leading the Augsburg College track and field teams at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, held Friday and Saturday at the Donald McNeely Spectrum at St. John's University.

Holman was edged at the finish of the 55-meter dash, finishing in second to Nikki Arola of St. Thomas. Both ran 7.41-second times in the event; for Holman, it was a personal-best time. She also earned All-MIAC honorable-mention honors in the 200-meter dash, finishing fifth in 27.08 seconds.

On the men's side, Nick Ward (FY, Coon Rapids, Minn.) earned All-MIAC honorable-mention honors with a sixth-place finish in the men's 55-meter dash, finishing in a season-best 6.55 seconds.

Brent Haglund (SO, Fridley, Minn.) set his third school record of the indoor season, breaking his old mark in the 5,000-meter run with a 15:18.49, seventh-place finish. He broke his old mark of 15:20.73, set last season. He also placed 16th in the 3,000-meter run (8:57.59).

For the Auggie women, Jenny Lovering (FY, Bemidji, Minn.) just missed All-MIAC honorable-mention honors in the mile run, finishing seventh in a season-best 5:25.68. She also placed 10th in the 1,000-meter run in a season-best 3:07.37. Gaby Hamerlinck (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS) placed 13th in the high jump in a season-best 1.47 meters (4-feet, 9.75-inches). Kim Carlson (FY, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) placed 14th in the 800-meter run in 2:32.32.

Augsburg opens its outdoor track and field season on March 22 at the Baylor University Dr. Pepper Invitational in Waco, Texas.
