Track and Field 5/4/08 -- Augsburg at Hamline Meet of the UnSaintly MEN'S RESULTS -- CLICK HERE ST. PAUL, Minn. (5/4/08) -- Kevin Haglund (SR, Fridley, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) broke his old school record in the men's triple jump, leading the Augsburg College track and field teams in action at the Hamline University Meet of the UnSaintly, held Sunday at Klas Field. Haglund won the men's triple jump with an effort of 14.27 meters (46-feet, 10.0-inches), breaking his old school record of 14.05 meters (46-feet, 1.25-inches), set last season. The distance was nearly a foot beyond the NCAA championships provisional qualifying mark of 14.00 meters (45-feet, 11.25-inches), but cannot be considered for national qualification because of the wind conditions at the meet on Sunday. However, his effort currently ranks second among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference athletes this season. Nick Ward (FY, Coon Rapids, Minn.) claimed three top-five finishes at the meet, placing third in the 200-meter dash (22.35 seconds), fourth in the long jump (6.52 meters/21-feet, 4.75-inches) and fifth in the 400-meter dash (51.03 seconds). In advance of this weekend's MIAC championships, Ward sits among the top 20 in the MIAC in all three sprint events -- fourth-fastest in the 200, sixth-fastest in the 100 (11.04) and 18th in the 400. He also stands ninth in the long jump conference rankings. James Strand (SO, Brainerd, Minn.) scored two top-10 finishes for the Auggie men, placing fourth in the 400-meter dash (50.26 seconds) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (22.65 seconds). On the women's side, Whitney Holman (SO, New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) placed seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.97 seconds), just one-hundredth of a second off her personal-best of 12.96, a time that ranks eighth among MIAC women this season. She also ranks 11th among MIAC women in the 200-meter dash (26.85). Holly Blaiser (FY, West St. Paul, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) placed sixth for the Auggies in the triple jump (9.40 meters/30-feet, 10.25-inches), while Megan Krumrie (JR, Elk Mound, Wis.) placed seventh in the long jump (4.99 meters/16-feet, 4.5-inches). Krumrie's season-best 5.11-meter (16-feet, 9.25-inches) effort earlier this season currently ranks seventh among MIAC women.
