ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/21/00) -- Augsburg College posted two school records and claimed 11 first-place finishes in its first indoor track and field competition of the 2000 season, at the Concordia-St. Paul Early Bird Invitational on Friday evening at CSP's Ganglehoff Center.

Teresa Lewandowski (Jr., Hastings, Minn.) claimed a school-record and personal-best 2:23.59 to claim the victory in the women's 800-meter run, bettering the previous record of 2:25.07, set by Chrissy Baune (So., Marshall, Minn.), set last year, by more than a second. Baune set a new school record of her own later in the meet, becoming the first Auggie women's runner ever to break the five-minute mark in the indoor 1,500-meter run. Baune's 4:58.68 time bettered the previous record of 5:00.70, set by Rebekah Ormsby in 1995.

On the men's side, Damien Rochon-Washington (Jr., Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) led the way for the Auggies, claiming victory in three events. Washington and Auggie newcomer Richard Woods (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./North HS) ran to identical 6.81 times in winning the 55-meter dash. Rochon-Washington also won the200-meter dash (24.05 seconds) and the long jump (20 feet, 6 1/4 inches/6.25 meters).

Andy Lindekugel, competing in his first Auggie meet, won two events -- the shot put (38-11 3/4 / 11.88 meters) and 35-pound weight throw (32-2 / 9.80 meters). Lawrence Mboga (So., Nairobi, Kenya/Men Yen Ya HS) won the 800-meter run (2:05.05) and Christian Dawson (So., Invercargill, New Zealand/Cargill HS) won the 1,500-meter run in 4:17.60. Augsburg's men's 1,600-meter relay squad also won its event in 3:37.78.

Augsburg, Concordia-St. Paul and St. Mary's University competed in the men's event, while Augsburg, Concordia-St. Paul, St. Mary's, the University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota competed in the women's event.

Augsburg next competes in the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invitational on Friday (1/28/00) at 3:30 p.m.
