MINNEAPOLIS (10/15/99) -- Angie Rieger (Jr., Courtland,
Minn./New Ulm Public HS) had 12 kills in 15 attempts to lead Augsburg
College to a three-game sweep of the College of St. Catherine
in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball
contest Friday night at Si Melby Hall. Game scores were 15-9,
15-11, 15-13.
The Auggies improved to 8-13 overall and 4-4 in the MIAC. Augsburg
had to rally from behind in each of the three games, including
an 8-0 deficit in the first game. St. Catherine falls to 3-22
overall and 0-8 in the MIAC.
Fourteen Auggies saw action in the contest. Paula Pogatchnik
(Fr., Finlayson, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) had seven kills
and five service aces. Missy Carlson (Sr., Cokato, Minn./Dassel-Cokato
HS) had six kills, eight digs and four blocks (two solo).
Augsburg hosts St. Mary's on Saturday (10/16), while St. Catherine
hosts Macalester. Both matches are at 3 p.m.
