MINNEAPOLIS (2/12/03) -- Sara Erickson (Sr., Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) led all scorers with 19 points, as St. Olaf College used a second-half run to claim a 66-47 triumph over host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall.

St. Olaf outscored Augsburg 33-14 in the second half to score the win and improve to 6-15 overall, 6-13 in MIAC play. Augsburg drops to 4-18 overall and 3-16 in MIAC play, losing its 12th game in a row.

The game was tied 33-33 at halftime, but the Oles used an 18-4 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half to build a commanding 14-point lead, 51-37 with 10:21 left. St. Olaf stretched the advantage to as many as 22 points in the second half.

Hitting 43.3 percent (13-of-30) from the field in the first half, Augsburg was limited to just 17.9 percent shooting (5-of-28) in the second half. Meanwhile, St. Olaf was consistent the whole game, hitting 47.4 percent (27-of-57) from the field. Both teams hit six 3-point baskets in the game.

Augsburg committed 19 turnovers, the 15th time this season Augsburg has committed 19 or more miscues. St. Olaf turned the turnovers into 21 points in the game.

Erickson hit three 3-pointers, as did Liz Mundahl (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) for the Oles, who scored 13 points. Both Erickson and Mundahl had three steals each. Molly Simon (So., Hudson, Wis.) came off the bench to score 16 points and pull down six rebounds.

Augsburg was led by Katie Kelsey (So., Burnsville, Minn.), who had 11 points and 13 rebounds for her first career double-double. Ashley Vossen (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) matched a season high with 10 points. Missy Larson (Fr., Pine Island, Minn.), in her first collegiate start, had eight points.

Augsburg started a virtually brand new starting lineup on Wednesday in hopes of breaking the month-long losing streak, starting three freshmen.

Both teams return to action on Saturday (2/15) at 3 p.m., with Augsburg playing at St. Mary's and St. Olaf hosting Macalester.
