Women's Golf 9/2/04 -- Augsburg College Invitational, Day 1 results MEDINA, Minn. (9/2/04) -- Katie Glorvigen shot a first-round 82, as one of four University of St. Thomas women's golfers to lead the standings after the first round of the Augsburg College Invitational tournament, held Thursday at the Baker National Golf Course. The Tommies claimed the top four individual scores after the first round, all in the 80s, leading the four-school, five-team competition by 31 strokes with a 337 total. Augsburg was second with 366, ahead of Carleton and St. Thomas' B squad with 367 apiece. Macalester shot 383. Tricia Nelson shot an 84, Holly Noble had an 85 and Maureen Hardwick shot an 86 to pace the Tommies in the top four in the scoring, after leader Glorvigen. Hot, humid and windy conditions on a challenging course provided an equalizer for the golfers in Wednesday's first round. Augsburg was paced by Micaela Pommerening (Jr., Hopkins, Minn./Blake HS) shot 87 to stand in fifth place in the 28-golfer competition. Laura Henry (So., Hugo, Minn./Forest Lake HS), a transfer from Concordia-Moorhead playing in her first Augsburg tournament, shot a 92 to stand in 11th, while last year's leading Auggie golfer, Marisa Navarro (So., Rochester, Minn./Century HS), shot 93 to stand 14th. Carleton was led by Sophie Snyder, who shot an 87 to tie Pommerening for fifth. Kate Waller shot an 89 to stand in eighth, while Kelly Lewis was in 11th with a 92 total. Kristen Ausan and Kylie Thomson shot scores of 94 to lead Macalster, with Grace Arnold shooting 95. The tournament concludes on Friday (9/3) at Baker National.
