COMPLETE RESULTS -- CLICK HERE BECKER, Minn. (4/19-20/08) -- Stef Zappa (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Patrick Henry HS) and Johanna Frykmark (FY, Stockholm, Sweden/Rollingby Gymnasium HS) shot 181 and 182 totals, respectively, leading the Augsburg College women's golf team at its season-closing event, the Minnesota Women's Collegiate Golf Association State Championships, held Saturday and Sunday at Pebble Creek Golf Club. Zappa had rounds of 89 and 92 for her 36-hole, 181 total, finishing 35th in the individual competition, while Frykmark had rounds of 89 and 93 for her 182 total, finishing 37th. Ellen Watters (JR, Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) placed 53rd with a 220 total and Katy Anderson placed 54th with a 224 total. As a team, Augsburg finished ninth in the competition with a two-day total of 807 (394-413).
Watters improved her stroke average by three full strokes this season, moving from 114.1 in the 2006-07 season to 111.17 in this year's campaign. Since her first collegiate golf season, Watters has improved her stroke average by more than 14 strokes. Augsburg finished the 2007-08 season with a team stroke average of 404.33. Frykmark was the team's top golfer this season, with a 91.33 stroke average in 12 rounds. Zappa averaged 92.55 in her 11 rounds this season.
