Johanna FrykmarkCOON RAPIDS, Minn. (10/6-8/07) -- Johanna Frykmark (Fr., Stockholm, Sweden/Rollingby Gymnasium HS) became just the second Augsburg College women's golfer to ever earn all-conference honors, finishing in a tie for 10th place overall at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, held Saturday to Monday at Bunker Hills Golf Club.

Johanna FrykmarkFrykmark shot a 253 total (88-81-84) to tie for 10th, the best Auggie finish in a 54-hole event in school history. The top 10 golfers (plus ties) earn All-MIAC honors. Frykmark joined Andrea Sievert, who finished ninth at the 1998 MIAC championships, as the lone Augsburg golfers to ever earn all-conference honors.

"I am so proud of how Johanna and our entire team played at the MIAC championship. We worked very hard throughout the fall to make this season into something we would be proud of, and we have done that," said Augsburg head coach Laura Patrick. "Johanna had never set foot in the U.S. prior to preseason practice. She's overcoming the challenges of adjusting to school and living in a new country, all while shooting great scores. Earning all-conference honors for only the second time in Augsburg women's golf history is a great achievement for a freshman. I believe it is an indicator of things to come for Johanna and our program."

As a team, Augsburg finished eighth at the conference meet with a 54-hole total of 1,189 (406-381-402), finishing ahead of ninth-place St. Mary's (1,214).

Stef Zappa (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./Patrick Henry HS) finished in 35th place with a 284 (98-96-90) total, while Stef Sanders (So., Lafayette, Colo./Fairview HS) shot a 325 (109-99-117) total and Ellen Watters (Jr., Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) shot a 329 (111-107-111) total. Kelsey Corrick (Fr., Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) played only the second round and shot a 105 total.

"We were very successful in achieving many of the goals that we established at the beginning of the season," Patrick said. "We have a lot of talent on our team and I believe that we will continue to improve as our team goes forward."

Augsburg will return to action in the spring half of the 2007-08 season.
