FRIDLEY, Minn.
(1/20/01) -- Stephanie Johnson (Sr., Champlin, Minn./Anoka
HS) notched her second hat-trick of the season with a three-goal
effort, leading Augsburg College to a 7-2 victory over Bethel
College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's
hockey game Saturday night at the Columbia Ice Arena.

(Sr.,
Courtland, Minn./New Ulm Public HS) added two goals and an assist
and Angie Gliniany (Jr., Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center
HS) added a goal and assist to help the Auggies improve to 6-8-0
overall and 6-6-0 in the MIAC. Bethel falls to 3-11-0 overall
and 3-9-0 in the MIAC, dropping its sixth straight game.
After Bethel's
Katie Lida (Fr., Anoka, Minn.) opened the scoring three
minutes into the game, the Auggies scored the next four goals
to pull out to a comfortable 4-1 lead after two periods. Rieger
had an unassisted power-play goal, Katie Cheese (Jr., Shakopee,
Minn.) scored a shorthanded goal, Rieger added her second goal
of the game 10 seconds into the second period, and Johnson notched
her first tally of the game.
Johnson scored
two of Augsburg's three third-period goals, with Gliniany adding
the other. Kim Framstad (Jr., Byron, Minn./Victory Christian
Academy) scored for the Royals early in the third period.
Auggie goalie
Katie Fedoryk (Fr., Austin, Minn.) made 16 saves to score
the victory, while Paula Gieselman (Fr., Annandale, Minn.),
making her first appearance in goal of the season for the Royals,
stopped 16 shots.
Augsburg travels
to Connecticut for three games this week, playing at Wesleyan
College (Conn.) on Thursday (1/20) at 7 p.m., facing Wayne State
(Mich.) at Yale (Conn.) on Friday (1/26) at 3 p.m., and playing
at Trinity College (Conn.) on Sunday (1/28) at 1 p.m. Bethel returns
to action with a two-game MIAC series against Gustavus Adolphus
on Feb. 2-3.
