STORY FROM UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS SPORTS INFORMATION

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. (2/12/05) -- Jackie Foley scored twice in the first 12 minutes and the No. 8-ranked University of St. Thomas (16-2-2 overall, 13-0-1 MIAC) scored a 5-3 win over visiting Augsburg College (10-9-2, 7-7) in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey play Saturday afternoon at the St. Thomas Arena.

The Tommies completed a weekend sweep and remained one point out of first place in the MIAC. St. Thomas kept pace with Gustavus (14-0), which won 4-0 at home over St. Catherine. The teams play Feb. 25-26 in a series expected to decide the MIAC regular-season title.

UST led 5-1 after one period then held off a challenge by the Auggies. Foley, Melanie Drake and Ashley Reinhardt scored in a 4:19 stretch late in the first period. Tedra Mitchell also had a goal and Courtney Sekevitch had two assists.

For the Auggies, Stacy Anderson (So., Lafayette, Calif./Marina HS) and Melynda Kleewein (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond HS) each had a goal and two assists, and Lauren Chezick (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) also scored. Jena Kleis (Fr., Hastings, Minn.) played the final 40 minutes in goal and stopped all 25 shots she faced.
